After many weeks of conversations, meetings, and frustrations regarding the post-flooding damages and repairs to The Gary Residence Residential Care portion of the building, we finally have a re-opening date: February 5, 2024.
Due to extensive damage and the repairs needed to safely re-open, this is a much longer-than-anticipated re-opening than was originally planned.
Because of the severity of the flood damage, The Gary Residence will need to move all of our heating systems, electrical, and life safety systems out of the basement of the building. The complete elevator system and all its equipment will also need to be replaced and moved to the attic. This will help ensure that future flooding will not impact our ability to operate.
The good news is that HP Cummings, our construction firm, will be staying on-site until the entire Gary Residence re-opens. Our newest addition, Clara’s Garden Memory Care, is still slated to accept its first resident on Tuesday, October 17, as this area of The Gary Residence was not damaged by flooding.
This has been a heartbreaking experience for all of us, and we understand the frustrations and limitations of this long wait to return home.
In the meantime, we will be in touch to invite you for a tour of our new Memory Care neighborhood, Clara’s Garden.
