Support The Gary Residence in the wake of the Vermont floods
In the aftermath of the 2023 Vermont flooding, The Gary Residence is in need of financial support to continue our important mission of supporting older adults to live healthy, vibrant lives after retirement and beyond.
Due to the catastrophic flooding and subsequent damage to our building’s basement and first floors, extensive repairs are needed before we can safely move residents back into the building. Currently, 12 residents are displaced from The Gary Residence until damage can be remedied.
As a nonprofit living community, we have worked so hard to invest in the lives and wellbeing of seniors in our community with the expansion of our new Memory Care building, but we couldn’t have anticipated the current damage that has occurred to our original building that so many have called home for 104 years.

Why Support Us?
Once a resident is admitted to The Gary Residence, we are committed to providing a home for that resident as long as they can and want to remain with us—even if their financial situation changes. Some things change with the times. This commitment hasn’t.
When Dr. Gary left money in her will to establish a facility to provide lifetime care, residents who entered promised to leave their estates to The Gary Residence to provide funding for future residents. This approach worked for the times when it was established. As times changed, this approach needed to change to reflect the needs and desires of contemporary society.
Unfortunately, the need for funds to maintain an up-to-date facility with trained staff has not changed. To keep our commitment to providing the security of a home for our residents, even if their financial situations change, we need help. Your help.
